OUR HISTORY

In 2014, God would call Paul and his wife Laurie giving them the task to start The Rock Church. After much prayer, counsel, and guidance, with Bible College having been completed in 2008, Laurie and Paul began to ask the Lord how they would go about such a daunting task! They had meetings, met with other pastors, and simply sought the Lord. Another local Yuma friend and pastor (Jason Taylor of The Vertical Church) had been meeting with Paul and told him "we will help plant you and support you in any way we can!" Those were the kind words and spark that Paul and Laurie needed to step out and be faithful!

That year, in the early summer, a small group of people began to meet in the Mondragon living room with the goal of growing a core team to launch a church. And within a few short months, the house would be outgrown while our first "public" services would happen at KOFA High School in August of 2014. During the next three years, The Rock Church would grow to 250 people at our single, weekend service. Such exciting times.

But that would all change when The Rock began looking for a home to call its own. In only the way the Lord provides, from earlier turned down offers to simple prayers to the Lord that went like this: "Lord, we don't know the plan but we know you do. Please show us," the building we had been wanting became ours. Renovations began immediately with dual weekend services occurring in fall of 2017.

From the days of meeting in the Mondragon living room, to meeting at KOFA HIgh School, to meeting in a building that is ours, we see the handprints of the Lord everywhere we look! We have only ever preached the Bible. We only preach Jesus. We desire to serve our city. And The Lord has done the rest, bringing people to saving faith in Jesus. The Lord would also allow us to pay off our new building in 2021. What a thrill to see what the Lord does!
